GENERATOR LINEUP:
Portable generators run on gasoline, come with a locally handcrafted generator box, and are manual transfer switch (MTS) compatible. This means the home owner must be able to refuel the generator with a jerry can, start the generator, and flip the transfer switch from utility to generator power when a power outage occurs.
Home stand-by generators run on propane, include full electrical installation by our certified electrician, and include a 100 Amp automatic transfer switch (ATS). This means the entire system is fully automated; requiring no action from the home owner at any time during an outage.

POWER PROBLEMS WE'RE SOLVING
IN ATLANTIC CANADA, MAJOR POWER OUTAGES ARE NOT UNCOMMON AND CAN EVEN BE EXPECTED DURING STORMS AND ADVERSE WEATHER EVENTS EACH YEAR. OUR GOAL AT CB GENERATORS IS TO PROVIDE BASIC UTILITIES TO AS MANY CAPE BRETON RESIDENTS AS WE CAN DURING POWER OUTAGES. GIVING FAMILIES COMFORT AND PEACE OF MIND AT AN HOME DURING TIMES OF UNCERTAINTY IS OUR ULTIMATE GOAL.
FOOD SPOILAGE FROM EXTENDED OUTAGES
It is not uncommon for power outages to extend for long periods of time in certain areas during extreme events. By simply keeping refrigerators and freezers running we are reducing food waste and saving you money in replacement food cost, as well as other damages that may occur to your home from extended periods without power.
RESIDENTIAL POWER OUTAGES HAPPENING MORE & MORE FREQUENTLY
In 2020, there was a power outage affecting at least five Nova Scotians 363 out of 365 days; with climate change being a central focal point around the world today, it's safe to say nobody knows what the future holds. That's why our fully installed BPS's can run major circuits in your home such as water pumps, heat pumps, hot water heaters, and more so you can keep your basic needs met regardless of what's going on outside.
IMPROPER AND INEFFICIENT USE OF GENERATORS
The majority of individuals who do own generators typically don’t maximize their full energy potential, treating their generator more like a wall outlet than a power system. It's common to run an extension cord through a propped open back door or window to a generator right outside, however extension cords running from a generator are intended to power outdoor items only; indoor items are best and safely powered using a transfer switch. Extension cords utilize a small percentage of the capabilities of most generators, can present tripping hazards, and, by default, expose your home during adverse weather.
